My Sew Called Life

Since I was in kindergarten, I dreamt of being a fashion designer. I made my first article of clothing at 10 years old and made my very last in the 10th grade. What a short lived career? In the 20 years since I first birthed that childhood dream I have done just about every thing BUT  become a designer. From a journalist, to a freelance writer, to a stylist, to a retail sales person, to a law school applicant; I’ve given it all a try. Now its time to try this design thing. The one thing I can imagine doing for free. I’m launching full steam ahead into my design career and starting from ground zero with my own funds and a single sewing machine I am going to be a designer….SEW THIS IS IT.

Nichole Alabi is a graduate of Howard University with a B.A. in Journalism. Currently she resides in Washington, DC where she attends Howard University School of Law. Soon she will be a full-time fashion designer.
